National Safe Motherhood Day observed by inaugurating new Physiotherapy Block for females (during pregnancy and after child’s delivery)
Ludhiana: Department of Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy, DMCH, Ludhiana on May 15 observed “National Safe Motherhood Day” by organizing an interactive session and awareness campaign, for promoting healthy motherhood among females during pregnancy period and after delivery of child. The programme was conducted in Obstetrics and Gynae OPD Block of the hospital. On the occasion, a new block of ‘Physiotheraphy & Occupational Therapy Department’ for expected and new mothers was also inaugurated by Mrs Sunila Gupta. Dr Ashima Taneja (Professor & Head of Obstetrics & Gynae) informed audience about various physiotherapy exercises, that can be performed by female before and after delivery of child. Also, guest lectures were conducted about various physiotherapy exercises that can be The dignitaries,during the occasion, was Vice-President of DMCH Managing Society-Sh Gian Chand Dhawan, Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta Mrs Sunila Gupta and medical administrators of the institution. Secretary Sh Prem Kumar Gupta lauded the efforts of Department of Physiotherapy on organzing this programme for the benefit of mothers, before ad after delivery of child . Dr Avkash Teotia (In-charge, Department of Physiotherapy & Occupational Therapy) said that the main purpose to conducting this event was to create awareness among all the mothers that a good exercise during pregnancy has a positive impact on mother and child. Safe and easy postnatal exercises for mothers help to become fit and healthy after delivery. Students had exhibited various posters on the concerned topic and were given prizes by the dignitaries.
