National Science Day celebrated in CGC Landran

CGC Landran commemorated National Science Day 2023 on the theme, ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’, by organising a plethora of activities which included science project exhibition, project display, poster making competitions, science quiz, group discussions and coding competitions.

CGC Landran commemorated National Science Day 2023 on the theme, ‘Global Science for Global Wellbeing’, by organising a plethora of activities which included science project exhibition, project display, poster making competitions, science quiz, group discussions and coding competitions. Celebrated every year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir CV Raman, who was conferred the Nobel Prize in Physics for the same, in 1930.  More than 1200 students from schools, colleges including polytechnics participated in the event. 250-plus science projects comprising working prototype models in Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Chemistry, Computer and IT, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Food Sciences were displayed. 

The chief guest Dr. Satish Kumar, Chief Scientist, Centre of Excellence for Intelligent Sensors and Systems (ISenS), CSIO-CSIR inaugurated the programme. He was accompanied by Ms Ridhi Jain, Innovation Lead, AIM, NITI Aayog as the guest of honour, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran and other dignitaries.    

Dr. Kumar through his brief address remembered the illustrious contributions made to the field of science by Sir CV Raman. He motivated the students to aim for continuously learning, exploring, researching and coming up with new technologies and innovations that could help tackle some of society’s most pressing problems as also help make everyday life easier for the common man, including people with disabilities. 

Among the innovative projects displayed by students during the national science day celebrations,  were a project developed by Avdisha to generate electricity from waste material, Nanoparticle lead acid battery conceptualized by Subhashish Kundu, a smart irrigation system project developed by Amber Gaur, a project on remote weather sensing system conceptualized by Kali Aggarwal, electromagnetic braking system created by Navneet Singh, a solar energy based Bluetooth controlled lawn mower project displayed by Sami Akhtar, and many others. 

The event concluded with a cultural presentation and prize distribution ceremony felicitating the best projects on display.
