“National Science Day” Celebrations
Indian Science Congress Association (Chandigarh Chapter) in association with the Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology, Panjab University, Chandigarh will be celebrating the “National Science Day on February 28 at 11.00 am in the Zoology Auditorium, Department of Zoology, Sector-14, Chandigarh.
Chandigarh February 26, 2024: Indian Science Congress Association (Chandigarh Chapter) in association with the Institute of Forensic Science and Criminology, Panjab University, Chandigarh will be celebrating the “National Science Day on February 28 at 11.00 am in the Zoology Auditorium, Department of Zoology, Sector-14, Chandigarh.
An eminent scientist Professor Raghavendra Gadgkar, will be delivering a talk on "What We Can Learn From Insect Societies".
Professor Gadgakar is a recipient of ‘Bhatnagar Award’ in 1993 and ‘Cross of the Order of Merit by Germany’ in 2015. His research areas mainly focused on the evolution of social behavior using eusocial insects like wasp (Ropalidia marginata). At present, he is an honorary Professor at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and non-resident permanent fellow at Berlin Institute for Advanced Study.
It will be a lecture for everyone, without limitation to any subject specialization. His studies on insect societies are related to agriculture, communication, and robotics. Fundamental principles at work in insect societies during cooperation, collective decision (democracy), conflict resolution etc. can also help to understand human societies.
