National Seminar on ‘Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation’ held at PU

Chandigarh, March 21, 2015: A one day National Seminar on ‘Sustainable Renewable Energy Generation’ was organised today by Energy Research Centre, Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh.

Honorary Director of Energy Research Centre, PU Prof U. S Shivhare welcomed the Chief Guest Dr Gurinder Pal Singh - an eminent scientist from USA, keynote speakers and participants to the seminar.

Dr Gurinder Pal emphasised the need and importance of inventions and innovations in the renewable energy area. A large number of academicians, people from industry, researchers and students from the different parts of India participated in the seminar.

PU Emeritus Professor Prof. S.K. Sharma delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Prospectus & Problems of Renewable Energy in India’ in which he explained the avenues and possible research areas in the field of solar, photovoltaic renewable energy and energy storage.

Director, Sardar Swaran Singh National Institute of Renewable Energy, Kapurthala Prof.Y.K. Yadav presented an expert talk on ‘Bio-Energy in India’ and provided the information on huge potential of bioenergy in India.

Dr R.P. Saini of IIT-Roorkee delivered a keynote lecture on ‘Sustainable development of Micro-hydro energy in India’.

While presenting vote of thanks, PU, Prof. R.K. Wanchoo encouraged the researchers to work in the emerging areas of renewable energy with a team spirit. Prof S. K. Sharma

awarded prizes to the best presentations. Prof. Amrit Pal Toor, organising secretary of the seminar, congratulated the winners and thanked keynote speakers and participants. / (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
