National seminar entitled ‘Maharishi Dayanand and New India in Making’ held in Doaba College

Jalandhar, March 14, 2024: PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and Student Council of Doaba College organized a National Seminar on ‘Maharishi Dayanand and New India in Making’. Acharya Vishnu Mitra Vaidarthi graced the occasion as keynote speaker Chander Mohan-President Arya Shiksha Mandal & College Managing Committee-presided over the function, Dhruv Mittal-Treasurer as Guest of Honour. The dignitaries were accorded hearty welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Prof. Surjeet Kaur, Prof. Sonia Kalra and Dr. Simran Sidhu-coordinators, staff and students. 

While welcoming the guests Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari said that during the reign of Britishers there was prevalence of Good Governance but Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati insisted of independence than Good Governance. He said during that time many freedom fighters adopted the principles of Arya Samaj and inculcated among themselves the teachings of Swami Dayanand Saraswati so as to in still self confidence in themselves and thereafter were able to give their priceless contribution in the independence struggle of India. Dr. Bhandari said even today these ideologies are much  relevant to the current scenario to eradicate the menace of casteism.

Acharya Vishnu Mitra Vaidarthi said that young students should focus more on their mental horizon and faculties rather than on their physicality. He motivated them to lay more stress on their pious and nutritious food, so that their mind and their personalities is catapulted to proper growth and persona. He said that three components namely knowledge, Health and invocation of God is very important in sculpting the personality of every youth. 

Chander Mohan said that we are existing in current age because of the timely existence of Swami Dayanand Swami in that period. He said that is it is only due to the meaningful teaching of Swami Dayanand Saraswati that Education was given to girls during that time and entire folk benefitted and got enlightened during that time.  He said that it is high time that Punjab government should also focus on promoting artificial intelligence in school and higher education for the benefit of students.  

Dhruv Mittal said that many people have used the principles of Arya Samaj to remove the anomalies like superstitions and many such evils over the ages.
