National Seminar on Library Automation: Planning & Implementation

Jalandhar, February 4, 2015: PCM S.D.College for Women, Jalandhar organised a UGC Sponsored National Seminar on Library Automation Planning & Implementation on Wednesday.

The Chief Guest of the Seminar was Dr.Sistla Rama Devi Pani, Editor, University News, Delhi. Dr. Kiran Arora, Principal in her welcome Address emphasised the need to make a rational and judicious use of technology for betterment of life and learning. Dr. H.S. Chopra, University Librarian, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar delivered  the keynote Address. He said, "Information driven society can never move without Social media nor the Librarians". He advised the librarians to have a positive attitude. Their first priority should be their 'user' and profession.

Resource Persons Dr. A.L. Sangal, Principal, DAVIET, Jalandhar, Parveen Khurana, Director, American Centre, Centre State Library, Chandigarh, Jagtar Singh, Prof. and Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Punjabi University of Library and Information Science, Punjabi University, Patiala, presented papers on Library Automation - Planning and Implementation. Raj Kumar, Dr. Gurmej Singh Mann and Balesh Kumar were also resource persons for Technical Sessions. A journal "The Digital Archive": Library Automation: Planning & Implementation" was released on the ocassion.

Vinod Dada, Jt. Secretary, College Governing Body graced the occassion. Sampat Trivedi, Head Dept. of Library Science was the seminar co-ordinator. Head of Institutions, Faculty Members from Educational Institutions, Post Graduate Research Students and professionals participated in the seminar.
