National seminar on “Shaheed Bhagat Singh K Sapnon Ka Bharat” held in Doaba College
PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Doaba College, Jalandhar along with Student Council organised a National seminar on “ Shaheed Bhagat Singh K Sapnon Ka Bharat”.
Jalandhar, March 23, 2024: PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Doaba College, Jalandhar along with Student Council organised a National seminar on “ Shaheed Bhagat Singh K Sapnon Ka Bharat”.
Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari, Doaba college welcomed the guests and highlighted that the opinions of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev are required to be passed generation to generation.
And, encouraged students by giving an example that when Shaheed Bhagat Singh was in jail, he read 200 books. He mentioned that we need to takeaway his thoughts and conviction to his duty.
Book edited by Prof. Chaman Lal and Michael D Yates, “The Political Writings of Bhagat Singh” was released during the seminar.
Prof (Retd.) Harish Puri, eminent historian and political scientist joined seminar online. He appreciated Dr. Chaman Lal for releasing the writings in the form of book to the public which were not available before. He highlighted various important references from this book. He recognized Shaheed Bhagat Singh as great patriot, comrade, activist and is almost an exceptional kind of man of his age. He shared that, Bhagat Singh as well is against hypocrisy and wrote many documents in jail which included Great revolutionary agenda.
Key note speaker and Historian Chaman Lal in his address to the students shed light on the life of Bhagat Singh. He shared that he was a great admirer of cinema and books who is wrongly portrayed by the contemporary media. He said that there were three factors that made Bhagat Singh, the Bhagat Singh that is his family legacy, Dwarka das library and National College, Lahore. At present, his 135 writings have been found, out of 60 were letters and postcards that were written to family, peers and authorities.
Chandar Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal and chief guest of seminar hailed eminent historian Prof. Chamanlal for his exemplary contribution to restore the crucial documents and facts related to Bhagat Singh’s legacy. Further, he also asserted that what makes Bhagat Singh different from his contemporary revolutionaries was his ideology, literature and fearlessness.

Dr. Simran Sidhu, Head, PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication thanked all the dignitories for their benign presence and participation. Seminar was attended by co-ordinators of Student Council, Sonia and Surjeet Kaur along with around 120 students and faculty members.
