Chandigarh, April 4, 2024: A Two day National Seminar was organised by the Department of Sociology, Panjab University in collaboration with Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on 2nd and 3rd April, on the theme: "Women and Environment Issues and Perspectives", where Experts and Scholars from across India and abroad presented their Research at the conference.
Also, the event was graced by highly acclaimed Delegates like Prof. Y.P. Verma (Registrar, Panjab University), Prof. Simrit Kahlon (DSW, Panjab University), Ms. Gurpreet Kaur Deo (Spl. DGP, Punjab Police), Prof. Nilika Mehrotra (Professor, JNU), Dr. G.R. Sahibi (Retired IFS Officer), Prof. Maitrayee Chaudhari (President, Indian Sociological Society) and Prof. Shweta Prasad (Secretary, Indian Sociological Society), Ms. Harjot Kaur (Senior Social Development Specialist, World Bank), Dr. Upneet Lalli (Deputy Director, Institute of Correctional Administration Chandigarh)
Multiple sessions were conducted, which revolved around themes like Organic Farming and Consumption; Eco-feminism Women's Participation, Contribution and Exploitation with respect to Environment; Forthcoming Environmental Challenges and Perils; Environmental Solutions and Alternative Technologies.
