National Sports Day celebrated at Lyallpur Khalsa College 

Jalandhar, August 29, 2021: Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar is always ready for the holistic development of the students. Lyallpur Khalsa College has been involved in providing opportunities for students in the field of sports as well as academics. Under this, the birthday of hockey wizard Dhyan Chand was celebrated as the National Sports Day in College. Mr. Gurpreet Singh District Sports Officer was the Chief Guest. 

Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra and Dr. S.S. Bains Dean Sports welcomed him with a bouquet. Speaking on the occasion Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra informed about the contribution of Lyallpur Khalsa College in the field of sports and future goals. He said that our institute is committed to providing world-class facilities to the players, provided the students play their game with full dedication to the game with unity and concentration of mind, body, and soul. He said that a separate sports wing has also been opened for girls in the college. The response from the girls is overwhelming. He also said that the students playing with the spirit of dedication and determination to win would be given concession in fee besides food, coaching, and hostel facilities. 

On this occasion, student-athletes boys and girls cross country races were conducted in which 15 boys and 5 girls got prizes. Apart from this 100 meter and 800 meter races, long jump, high jump etc. were conducted. Members of the Morning Walk Club including MLA Rajinder Beri also attended the event. He made this National Sports Day memorable by participating in the 100 meter race. The chief guest of the function Mr. Gurpreet Singh encouraged the students to participate in sports with honesty, loyalty, and true sportsmanship. He said that discipline plays a vital role in the achievements of the players. 

Dr. S.S. Bains Dean Sports apprised the students about the contribution made by hockey wizard Dhyan Chand in sports and asked him to take inspiration from him in his life. Apart from the coaches of the students, Prof. Hariom Verma Coordinator, IQAC, Dr. Surinderpal Mand Dean, Student Welfare, Prof. Amritpal Singh Nindrayog, Prof. Karanbir Singh, Prof. Vikas Kumar, Prof. Satpal Singh, Prof. Satinder Singh, Prof. Ajay Kumar, and others staff members and students also participated.
