National sports day marking birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand celebrated

Jalandhar, August 29, 2019: National Sports Day marking the birth anniversary of Hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand was duly celebrated in the lush green sports outfields of Lyallpur Khalsa College. Satnam Singh, former International level athlete and national coach graced the occasion as chief guest. As a part of the program, a cross country was held wherein the first 3 position holders namely, Lovepreet, Sagar and Deepak (Male category) and Chandani, Kiran and Simran Saini (Female Category) along with the first 15 position holders were duly honored with track suits and sports kits by Chief Guest Satnam Singh, College Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Dr. Jaspal Singh HOD Physical Education & Sports and Dr. Tarsem Singh. The overall trophy of the program went to the Basketball Group of the college. Chief Guest Satnam Singh shared notable moments from his sports journey and also recalled the role played by the college in producing numerous international level quality athletes. Principal Dr.Gurpinder Singh Samra reiterated the college’s commitment towards providing a conducive atmosphere and facilities for its budding sportsmen and urged the sportsmen to follow their disciplines with full dedication. Dr. Jaspal Singh, HOD Physical Education & Sports presented the detailed report on the various activities and achievements of the Sports Department during the session 2018-19 and duly highlighted the college’s winning of the Overall Sports Trophy of GNDU, Amritsar for the record 24th time. Dr. Karanbir Singh delivered the vote of thanks. The occasion was also witnessed by Prof. Amritpal Singh Nindrayog, Dr. Vikas Kumar, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Gurpreet Singh and Prof. Satpal Singh.
