National Symposium on ‘Identity and Aspirations: Politics of the Marginalised in Neo-Liberal time’
Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair, Department of Political Science and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Socio-Economic Studies for the Weaker Sections of Society, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a one-day National Symposium on ‘Identity and Aspirations: Politics of the Marginalised in Neo-Liberal time’ on Wednesday.
Chandigarh, May 15, 2024: Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair, Department of Political Science and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Centre for Socio-Economic Studies for the Weaker Sections of Society, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a one-day National Symposium on ‘Identity and Aspirations: Politics of the Marginalised in Neo-Liberal time’ on Wednesday.
The inaugural session began with a welcome of delegates and attendees by Professor Shivani Sharma Department of Philosophy, Panjab University, followed by an introduction of the theme of the symposium by Professor Badri Narayan, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair. The audience was, then, addressed by Professor Simrit Kahlon, Dean Students’ Welfare (Women), Panjab University. The inaugural session was followed by four plenary sessions.
The speakers came from numerous universities including G.B. Pant Social Science Institute, Prayagraj, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi, Punjabi University, Patiala and Panjab University, Chandigarh. The themes of the sessions were Understanding Neo-Liberal Time in India, Identity Politics: Rope or Snake, Aspiration, Identity and Empowerment: Marginal Communities in India and Politics of the Poor: Multiple Roots.
The discussions encompassed a variety of disciplines including history, political science, philosophy, and languages.
Each session was followed by an interaction with the attendees.
