Nauni varsity students and faculty bag three prizes during Seed Science Congress

The scientists and students of the Department of Seed Science and Technology of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan bagged prizes at the 12th National Seed Congress-2023 on ‘Innovations and Challenges in Quality Seed Availability under Changing Climate’ held at Aurangabad. The event was organized by Vasantrao Naik Marathawada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Maharashtra and the Indian Society of Seed Technology, New Delhi in collaboration with the National Seed Research and Training Centre, Varanasi.

The scientists and students of the Department of Seed Science and Technology of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan bagged prizes at the 12th National Seed Congress-2023 on ‘Innovations and Challenges in Quality Seed Availability under Changing Climate’ held at Aurangabad. The event was organized by Vasantrao Naik Marathawada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Maharashtra and the Indian Society of Seed Technology, New Delhi in collaboration with the National Seed Research and Training Centre, Varanasi. 
 
Dr. Rohit Verma, Assistant Professor in the department bagged the first prize for the Research paper through poster presentation ‘Effect of zinc nanoparticles seed treatment on quality seed production in bitter gourd in the mid-Himalayan region of Himachal Pradesh’ authored by Pragati Verma, Dr. Rohit Verma, Dr. Narender K Bharat and Dr. DK Mehta. Additionally, Vinay, a doctorate scholar of the department bagged the second prize in poster presentation under the same theme for the research paper ‘The impact of seed priming treatments and foliar application of paclobutrazol in Verbena hybrida L. to improve plant growth, flowering and seed yield under mid hill conditions of Himachal Pradesh’ authored by Vinay, Dr. BS Dilta, Dr. Rajender Sharma, Dr. Rohit Verma and Dr. Sapna Kaushal. Dr. Neha Thakur, Assistant Professor of Seed Science and Technology, presently working at the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Thunag (Mandi) won the third prize for the research paper on ‘Pre sowing seed treatment with chemical and natural formulation affecting seedling characters of Kodra’ authored by Dr. Neha Thakur, Dr. Priyanka Thakur, Dr. Narender K Bharat and Rajeev Kumar.
 
Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, Director of Research and Dean of the College of Horticulture congratulated the scientists and the students of Seed Science and Technology for their achievement.
