Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry (UHF), Nauni will be partnering with Heartfulness Education Trust (HET), Hyderabad to start yog, meditation and happiness courses for its students. This collaboration will be part of the recently signed MoU on behalf of agricultural universities by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and HET.
Professor Rajeshwar Singh Chandel, UHF Vice-Chancellor said that MoU has been signed by ICAR on behalf of agricultural universities and will help us restructure undergraduate curricula in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020 with a focus on skill development. This is a first-of-its-kind partnership between HET and ICAR. As a partner in this MoU, it will greatly benefit students by integrating sustainability and traditional knowledge with the best modern practices.
He added that under the MoU, UHF will be starting foundation courses in Yog and Meditation for the students and staff of the university. The training will greatly benefit the students through their profession in reducing stress parameters. Prof. Chandel added that the partnership will bring together university students in a meditation module that will help develop attitudes and perspectives towards humanity, relationships, ways of balancing material life, attitudes towards profession or vocation and humility, love, care and intimacy.
Moreover, as the HET and UHF are doing pioneering work on natural farming and have individually developed different models integrating various crops, therefore the two organizations will look to collaborate to jointly conduct research activities in this field for the larger benefit of the farmer community. Student and faculty exchange will also help to expose the students and faculty to learn from each other and broaden their horizons. The courses that the HET will develop will be aligned with the objectives of education, training and research in environmental sustainability and sustainable technology in line with the recommendations of the National Education Policy.
Under the MoU, a four-day meditation cum yog camp for the students and the staff of the university commenced today at the university campus.
