Nawanshahr, February 16, 2022: Adding another feather in its cap, the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar has emerged as frontrunner in Punjab by vaccinating 94-percent eligible population in the 15-18 years age category with the first dose.
The district has a target of 22026 population in the 15-18 age group, out of which 20704 have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine which stands at 94-percent.
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is followed by Fazilka district which has administered the Covid vaccine to 74 percent eligible age group in the same category. The National average in this category stands at 71 percent.
Congratulating all ANMs ASHAs, workers/employees and officers of the health department and civil administration for the achievement, Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal said that this has become possible due to their dedicated efforts and fulsome support of the beneficiaries.
He said that this is the fastest ever pace in any district of Punjab which would help to tackle the pandemic more effectively. He added that these life-saving jabs would protect the peoples' lives.
The Deputy Commissioner solicited people's support in this task to keep Covid-19 spread under check, because mass immunization is the only solution to this deadly disease and reiterated administration's commitment to Immunization of all eligible people.
It is worthwhile to mention that SBS Nagar earlier touched 95 and 81 percent inoculation target for the eligible population of 18 plus in first and Second dose respectively.
Sarangal also called upon the people to come forward to get the life saving dose.
