Chandigarh, March 12, 2024: The BJP-JJP coalition has split up amid political instability in Haryana ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Chief Minister Manohar Lal resigned today, along with his Cabinet. The resignation decision came following a parliamentary party meeting chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

State BJP President and Member of Parliament Nayab Saini took oath as the 11th Chief Minister of Haryana on Tuesday along with five ministers, namely Kanwar Pal Gujjar, Mool Chand Sharma, Ranjit Singh Chautala, Jai Prakash Dalal and Banwari Lal.

Nayab Saini won the Lok Sabha election from Kurukshetra in 2019. He was earlier elected as an MLA from Naraingarh in 2014 and served as a Minister of State in the Haryana government for four years. Recently he has been entrusted with the responsibility of the state president by the central leadership. Saini is considered close to Ex CM Manohar Lal. They have known each other since their RSS days. It is believed that Manohar lal himself had advocated Nayab Saini's name for LS ticket from Kurukshetra.

Nayab Singh Saini was born on January 25, 1970, in a small village called Mizapur Majra in Ambala. A law graduate, Saini joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), through which he met Manohar Lal and was influenced by him. After some time, he joined the BJP and subsequently worked in several local party offices, including in Ambala Cantonment. In 2002, he became the district president of the youth wing of the BJP in Ambala. Nayab Singh Saini served as the state president of the BJP's farmer wing in Haryana in 2009. In 2012, he was the district president of the BJP in Ambala.

While Saini hails from the Other Backward Class (OBC) community and is another non-Jat CM of Haryana after Manohar Lal, the ministers come from different communities.

Outgoing CM Manohar Lal Khattar was present on the stage during the oath ceremony. He is likely to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, most probably from Karnal.
