Punjab, September 20, 2012: Near total bandh was observed in the state on a nationwide call for strike given by the NDA partners and other Opposition parties.
Ludhiana: The bandh was almost complete. The day remained peaceful. At certain places, the shopkeepers were being asked to shut down their shops through public address system. BJP national secretary Shyam Jaju addressed the party workers and strongly spoke against the Centre’s policies. Among others, BJP State General Secretary and Advisor to C.M. Punjab Kamal Sharma, District Urban B.J.P. President Parveen Bansal , Harish Tandon , B.J.P. State executive Member Arunesh Mishra, Former B.J.P. State President Prof Rajiender Bhandari , District General Secretary Jatinder Mittal, Lucky Chopra, Sunil Moudgil, and Neeraj Verma were present. Tight security arrangements were made.
Amritsar: BJP national secretary and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu addressing a public gathering today and saud the UPA had miserably failed on every front, Inflation was at its peak. He demanded that the approval of FDI in brand retail outlet be withdrawn as it would directly affect the small retailer. Others present were Mayor Amritsar Bhakshi Ram Arora , District President Anand Sharma , BJYM State President Rajesh Honey and BJP District Media Convenor Gourav Bhandari were among those present. Punjab Minister of Industries Mr Anil Joshi today staged Dharna at Rattan Singh Chownk, Amritsar .He said that due to hike in the prices of Diesel Inflation cannot be ruled out. Others present were Pappu Mahajan, Baljit Singh Tatole, Parabjit Singh Ratole, Pappu Mahajan Sukhwinder Bintu and others were present.
Pathankot: BJP State President Ashwani Kumar Sharma today addressed party workers during the bandh. He said the policies of the UPA had broken back bone of the common man. Nariender Parmar, President , Vipan Mahajan, Gulzar Singh ,Bahadur Singh , Anil Rampal , Ravi Parmar Roop Lal .Chaman Lal and Sham Lal were among those present.
Gurdaspur: BJP District President Rakesh Jyoti alongwith others today moved in the market for a complete Bandh . Rajinder Bittu, Gurpartap Singh, Mandal General Secretary, BJP Media Cell Convener Mukesh Kumar were among those present.
Batala: Batala observed total Bandh. The credit for the success goes among others to President Ashok Moudgil, General Secretary Krishan Dev Suri and Ramesh Bhatia.
Tarntaran: All business and commercial establishments remained closed today as mark of protest against the policies of the Centre. BJP local unit President R.P. Singh, Pawan Kumar Joshi, Raja Joshi, Amit Marwaha Convener B.J.P. Media Cell, and S J.S. Tinna Co-Convener B.J.P. Media Cell Punjab got assembled and condemned the UPA-led government at the Centre.
JalandharL The district unit of BJP today visited various areas to appeal people to support. All commercial and business establishment were closed today. Meanwhile, BJP National Executive Member and Spokesman Punjab Manoranjan Kalia has said that the nationwide call for bandh was a great success.
