NEPASI confers Lifetime Achievement Award upon Prof BS Ghuman
New Public Administration Society Of India (NEPASI), a society of academicians and practitioners advancing and promoting the teaching and research in Public Administration in the country conferred Dr. NR Inamdar Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 upon Professor BS Ghuman.
Chandigarh, December 26, 2022: New Public Administration Society Of India (NEPASI), a society of academicians and practitioners advancing and promoting the teaching and research in Public Administration in the country conferred Dr. NR Inamdar Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 upon Professor BS Ghuman during its recent International Conference on “Public Administration in India at the 75 years of Independence: Changes and Challenges” held at JNV University Jodhpur, Rajasthan on December 23-24, 2022. The award has been bestowed upon him in honour of his invaluable contribution to the theory and practice of public administration in the country and rendering his services to advance educational concerns in the capacity of Vice-Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala and earlier in various administrative roles at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The citation of the award highlights Professor Ghuman’s impressive research journey spanning over four decades and his active collaboration with national and foreign universities in teaching and research. The Central and state governments have been benefitting immensely from his expertise as he was member of the 6th Punjab Finance Commission, 5th Pay Commission, Punajb and chaired Punjab School Education Policy Draft Committee to mention a few.
Earlier, the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi has conferred its prestigious Paul H Appleby Award on Prof. BS Ghuman in recognition to his remarkable contribution in the field of Public Administration in India. The award to Prof. Ghuman was bestowed upon by the Hon'ble former Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Prof. BS Ghuman also delivered Valedictory Address of the Conference on the theme, “Research in Public Administration” in the backdrop of changing contours of public policy and governance. He opined that Public Administration has two inter-related streams - theory and practice. The role of the research is to integrate these two facets of Public Administration by undertaking theoretical, applied and evaluation research for the use of the administrators. The researchers need to develop a networking with administrators for undertaking relevant and quality research to harness and improve governance at all levels.
