New Education Policy-2015 being prepared at national level

Chandigarh, September 25, 2015: Haryana Education Minister, Mr.Ram Bilas Sharma, said that the New Education Policy-2015 is being prepared at national level to lay emphasis on intellectual, mental, spiritual and physical development of children and providing better environment in government schools. In this policy, main focus has been laid on true knowledge, eligibility and employment.
Mr.Sharma was addressing educationists, NGOs and officers of the Education Department after inaugurating the State Level Consultative Meeting organized by the Department under the aegis of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development at Panchkula near here today.
He said that brainstorming was being done at national level to prepare the New Education Policy on the 99th birth anniversary of Pt. Deen Dayal Upadyay. Earlier also Education Policy was framed in 1986, which was later amended in 1993. This is for the first time that the policy is being prepared by inviting suggestions from people in a democratic manner. For preparing this policy, meetings were held in 6,072 villages at village level, 119 meetings at block and Urban Local Bodies and 21 meetings at district level. As many as 2.5 lakh people gave their suggestions in these meetings. These suggestions were uploaded from time to time on the website of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development, and in today’s meeting, suggestions were invited from educationists. These suggestions would be compiled and sent to the Central Government, he added.
The Minister also greeted people on the occasion of Eid and also expressed grief over the death of Haj pilgrims in Mecca Medina./ (SK Vyas, Jalandhar)
