New Year gift to Banga- Garhshankar road commuters
Upgradation work kickstarts at the cost of Rs 9.78 Crore
Banga, December 31, 2021: Acceding to the long pending demand of Banga residents, Punjab Government has started the upgradation work of Banga-Garshankar road as a New Year bonanza to the Banga- Garshankar road Commuters.
Divulging details, Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Sarangal said that the project that was hanging in fire since long, got a major push with the visit of Pubjab Chief Minister, S. Charanjit Singh Channi, as Principal Secretary to CM, Husan Lal had raised the issue with the latter to clear all the hitches coming in starting the work. He said that Chief Minister immediately asked the concerned officials of PIDB to clear the files immediately to allot the work to the contractor without further delay.
Mr Sarangal said after the intervention of Chief Minister, the work was allocated to the contractor,who has started the work.
The upgradation of the road would give a major relief to the daily commuters. The Banga _ Garhshanker road is of immense importance as it connects to Sri Anandpur Sahib from Garhshankar town of Hoshiarpur district, added deputy commissioner.
He said that district administration would ensure quality work so that strengthening and upgradation could be done in a smooth and long-lasting way.
XEN PWD Rajinder Kumar while giving the details said that this 9.33 KM stretch of road falling in SBS Nagar district would be completed in a record time. An amount of Rs 9.78 Crore would be spent on this work and quality standards would be maintained by minute monitoring. He said that we have fixed a deadline of May 2022 to complete this work.
