New Zealand’s renowned University of Waikato (UoW) & Lovely Professional University (LPU) signed MoU
A high-profile team from New Zealand’s top-ranked research university-University of Waikato (UoW) recently visited the Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaborative purposes. This is LPU’s other significant step towards the internationalisation of education as per the new education policy of the country. The MoU caters to students' aspirations for research-based global education in top fields.
Jalandhar: A high-profile team from New Zealand’s top-ranked research university-University of Waikato (UoW) recently visited the Lovely Professional University (LPU) campus to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for collaborative purposes. This is LPU’s other significant step towards the internationalisation of education as per the new education policy of the country. The MoU caters to students' aspirations for research-based global education in top fields.
Headed by the Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Geoffery Holmes, the UoW team met LPU’s top educationists for a prestigious association towards collective endeavours of mutual interests, favouring both universities.
Representing the Division of Health, Engineering, Computing and Sciences at UoW and Artificial Intelligence as his field of research, Prof Dr Holmes held important discussions with the LPU team for research works in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber security, and joint conferences. LPU team was represented by its Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Lovi Raj Gupta from the faculty of technology & sciences and Vice President Dr Aman Mittal.
Prof. Dr Geoffery Holmes forwarded that aligned with New Zealand’s focus on fostering innovation and culture exchange, this partnership will lay the groundwork for a transformative impact where education and research take centre stage. It also showcases the University's ongoing commitment to implementing best practices.
Representing LPU, Vice President Dr Aman Mittal shared: “Working with the world’s top universities provides a truly global experience to both students and faculty of the collaborating institutions. As such, LPU is ever keen on enhancing global opportunities for its promising students by enriching innovative ways of knowledge dissemination. There are various prestigious collaborations of LPU with various top universities in the USA, UK, Germany, Australia, Canada and more. At LPU, no international border is inaccessible for promising students.”
As per the QS World University Rankings 2024, UoW is ranked amongst the top 250 universities globally for its quality of teaching and research. As per the MoU, It will offer the ‘2+2 Pathway Program’ for LPU’s Computer Science and Engineering students. With this, LPU’s budding engineers will have the opportunity to spend the initial 2 years at the LPU campus, and the following 2 years in New Zealand, with the final degree from UoW.
