NGO Expo to be held on Feb 27 in Rose Garden
DC Ludhiana launches cityneeds.info online platform of local NGOs
Ludhiana: Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Thursday launched a website namely www.cityneeds.info, an online platform to connect Local NGOs with prospective volunteers, donors, organizations and district administration.
Congratulating the developers of the website, Deputy Commissioner said that the main objective of website is to facilitate credible NGOs of Ludhiana and mobilise adequate resources for them to continue doing their good work.
Meanwhile, he also released a video song prepared by residents Radhika Jaitwani and Srishti Jaitwani showcasing the work of the various NGOs, functioning in the Ludhiana.
Deputy Commissioner specially thanked MC Councillor Mamta Ashu for the idea of organizing NGO Expo for the welfare of residents and added that on February 27, a First-ever NGO Expo in Punjab is being organized on at Nehru Rose Garde to celebrate the World NGO Day wherein more than 40 local NGOs, district administration and social entrepreneurs will participate to showcase their projects and initiatives.
He said that the main aim of Expo is to ensure that the residents come to know which NGOs is working in which field so that maximum number of people can be benefitted from it.
He informed that the District Administration would also be setting up kiosks of various welfare schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Skill Development, Ghar Ghar Rozgar and Karobar Mission etc during this fair.
He appealed the citizens of Ludhiana to visit and connect with respective NGO of their choice. He said that they can also bring books, clothes, utensils, grocery and medicine to donate or donate blood at the event.
He said that the event is aimed to encourage positivity and stimulate spirit of volunteerism & philanthropy in our society, empower the NGOs in their projects and promote social entrepreneurship.
The Deputy Commissioner said that Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu will be the chief guest of the event.
He said that NGO Expo has been planned in a way that there is something for everyone from the society whether it is Children, Women, Elderly, Youngsters who can all donate or volunteer for their preferred sector of help by choosing credible NGOs from their own choice.
