NGO Guardians of Nature Federation (GNF) organises event ‘Spirit of Freedom’ to raise pertinent environmental issues

Chandigarh, August 5, 2022: Guardians of Nature Federation, an NGO working for awareness and preservation of the environment, organized ‘Spirit of Freedom’ to promote ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ as a part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebration here at JW Marriott Hotel. 
 
The highlights of the event were panel discussions on ‘Making of Healthy and Sustainable India and Save Soil’ in which experts from Hospital and Institute of Integrated Medical Sciences (HIIMS), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) and Isha Foundation took part. ‘Green Peace Awards’ and ‘ECO Warrior Awards’ were also presented on the occasion.
 
To mark 'Spirit of Freedom'  in a colorful and joyous way, ‘Bhangra’ and ‘Algoza’ performances were also held. School children from Sri Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Sec 35 partIcipated in a healthy India march and also in a painting competition themed on sustainable and healthy India . What's more, a bike rally was also held which was flagged off at PCL Housing project at New Chandigarh and culminated at Hotel JW Marriott.
 
“As a nation we are completing 75 years of Independence. It is a great milestone in our nation's life. However, we have to make the most of Independence, we need to preserve our environment and promote healthy living. The spirit of freedom must take care of the beauty of nature, which is central to human life,” said Jagjit Singh Majha, founder and chairman of Guardians of Nature Federation , who is also Co-Chairman, IGBC, Chandigarh, President CREDAI (Punjab) and MD of PCL Housing. 

A renowned Ayurveda and Meditation Guru - Acharya Manish who is the founder of Shuddhi Ayurveda and HIIMS said, "This is the time for Indians to adopt Ayurveda in their lives.  In Ayurveda, perfect health is defined as a balance between body, mind, spirit, and social wellbeing. Following the philosophy, we are working hard to provide holistic medical facilities to common people and promote healthy living habits to prevent the occurrence of a disease rather than its cure.”

Col Shailesh Pathak(Retired), Chairman, IGBC, Chandigarh said, "Health, sustainability and soil conservation are of paramount importance for us. We are creating infrastructure which has green buildings and sustainable architecture as its cornerstones." 
 
Mona Chopra of  Isha Foundation said, “The idea behind the event was to have topical discussions on pressing issues like soil conservation. We have tried to mobilize public opinion about environmental conservation in every possible way.”

Chandigarh Mayor Sarbjit Kaur, UT Chandigarh, Harsh Sharma, Chief Conservator of Forests, Punjab and Dr Abdul Qayum, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests , UT Chandigarh  graced the event as Guests' of Honour. The event partners were CREDAI, CREDAI (Punjab), PCL Housing, IGBC, HIIMS etc.
