NGO transforms government school into smart school

Ludhiana: Asha-Chinh Welfare Society, Ludhiana has developed another Government Primary School at Jassian village in Ludhiana into a modern English medium smart school. Earlier, Government Primary School at Chuharpur village was similarly taken up for development where a new Aaftaab Block, an audio-visual room, two class rooms and a mid-day meal shed were got constructed in addition to landscaping of the entire school complex.

The school at Jassian has been adopted by the NGO where a kitchen. Office-cum-library and a mid-day meal shed have been constructed. Pathways and lawn in the school have also been landscaped. The entire project has been executed at a cost of Rs Seven lakh approximately.

This project for providing better infrastructure and facilities with private participation was brought on to the floor by education department in order to make the teaching-learning process easy and more effective for government school students which mostly belong to weaker section of society and to compete with the private schools also. 

The Punjab School Education department has started converting the primary and secondary government schools into the smart schools under the new integrated scheme for education named Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, through infrastructure development by the NGOs and other private partners.

The formal inauguration of the redeveloped school was done by the chief guest Mrs. Rajinder Kaur, District Education Officer, Ludhiana. The tiny tots of the school presented a beautiful cultural programme on the occassion. 

Dr. Rajinder Chawla, Chairman, Asha Chinh Welfare Society, spoke on the occasion and focused on various activities of Asha Chinh – primarily among them being spreading traffic awareness among the youth, development of schools and awarding scholarships to needy children.

He said that schools were the real temples and appealed to the public to allocate some part from their earnings to donation for schools and for the education of under-previledged children. Dr. Chawla also announced that the first phase of Kodingpreneur: a project to teach free coding and entrepreneurship to needy students will be launched by the society soon at Adarsh Public School, Ludhiana. 

Forty-nine meritorious students from different schools who have been awarded Aaftaab Scholarships for the year 2020-21, were given certificates.

Mr. Kuldip Singh, Deputy DEO spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of Asha Chinh Welfare Society towards infrastructure development in government schools. Mrs. Bhupinder Kaur, BPEO, gave away certificates to scholarship students. Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Sonjeet, Cluster Master Trainer, Ludhiana lauded the efforts of Asha Chinh towards development of the primary school into a smart school and exhorted the children to pay back by excelling in studies.

Mr. Barjinder Singh from Ek Noor Sewa Society and Dr. Param Saini, District Chair (Membership and Leadership Development), Rotary Club were the guests of honour. While Mr. Barjinder Singh highlighted the  importance of community service in the light of Gurbani, Dr. Saini encouraged and counselled the students asking them to face the hurdles in their lives with courage and hard work.
