NHRC visits central jail, directs officials to solve problems of undertrials and prisoners
National Human Rights Commission Special Monitor Bal Krishan Goel on Tuesday visited local central jail and directed the officials to immediately solve the grievances of the lodged undertrials and prisoners.
Ludhiana, January 30, 2024: National Human Rights Commission Special Monitor Bal Krishan Goel on Tuesday visited local central jail and directed the officials to immediately solve the grievances of the lodged undertrials and prisoners.
Accompanied by ADC (UD) Rupinderpal Singh, CWC Chairman Gurjit Singh Romana, DCPO Rashmi, DPO Anupriya, Goel also checked various barracks and quizzed the undertrials and prisoners about their medical examination, besides taking round of the biscuits manufacturing, furniture repair units, women prisoners' areas, their newborn and vaccination wards.
Goel said that efforts were being made by the National Human Rights Commission to prevent the violation of human rights in any government or non-government organization. He said that we should all be aware of human rights which our constitution has given to every citizen of the country.
Later, Goel also took stock of the facility 'Red Cross Senior Citizens Home' and listened to the issues of elderly there. He also gave necessary directions to the officials to improve services there.
