Ludhiana, September 9, 2015: National Institute of Secondary Steel Technology, Mandi Gobindgarh inaugurated a 3 days skill up-gradation and refresher training program for boiler operators on energy efficiency” on Wednesday at Hotel Nagpal Regency, Ludhiana.  The program has been sponsored by Punjab Energy Development Agency and Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
Sh.Anil Mohindru, Dy. Director (E), NISST, welcomed the Chief guest & participants. The program was inaugurated by Sh. Bobby Jindal, General Secretary, Punjab Dyers Association, Ludhiana. He emphasized the need for energy efficiency as a mean for cost reduction & sustainability for SME sector consisting of textile, paper mills, power plants etc.  He said that boiler is the most critical area for improvement in operational practices as most of the operators are having low education/skill level.  He observed that the program is a golden opportunity for the industry to get the boiler operators trained. Sh. Pawan Garg, representative from industry also spoke about the present status and problems of the local industry.
Dr. Rishi Srivastava, Joint Director (T), NISST, Mandi Gobindgarh, shared his views with the participants and stressed the need for Good Operating Practices as a tool for cost reduction.  He said that training of the operators is very vital for the overall health of the Industry. 
Sh. Anupam Nanda of PEDA requested the Industry to take full benefit of the program.  He told the gathering that PEDA is committed to energy efficiency efforts in the state of Punjab and there is a great opportunity for the SME sector to improve their sustainability. He also explained about the usage of quality of energy and also emphasizes on the energy conservation and explained the uses of renewable sources like solar, wind and hydro so the environment can be saved.
Sh. G S Saravanan, NPC, appreciated the joint efforts of BEE, PEDA & NISST for dissemination of knowledge for energy efficiency by organizing such seminars and workshops.
Sh. S P Singh thanked the Industry Associations and APEX Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Punjab) for their help in making the programme a success. He also thanked the participants and assured that the program shall be of great help to the Industry.
