Chandigarh, July 28, 2014: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer V.K. Singh today said that no candidate has filed nomination papers today in Talwandi Sabo and Patiala assembly constituencies, where the by-election is scheduled on August 21, 2014.
He further said that candidates could file their nomination papers before the concerned Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM)-cum-Returning Officers between 11:00 am to 3:00 pm till August 2, 2014. He said that on July 29, 2014, being Idu’l Fitr, is holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, so nomination papers would not be filed on that day.
