Northern Army commander reviews security situation in Kashmir
Northern Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar on Saturday to review the security situation in Kashmir.
Srinagar, Aug 13 (IANS) Northern Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi arrived in Srinagar on Saturday to review the security situation in Kashmir.
He would be visiting forward posts on the Line of Control to review the overall security situation in the Kashmir Valley.
The Army Commander, accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander, Lt. Gen. A.D.S. Aujla, visited various locations and formations in forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday.
"He was briefed on the prevalent security situation and measures instituted to counter adversary's designs and the development work being undertaken by the Indian Army," the Army said in a statement.
"He also lauded the strong counter infiltration grid along the LoC. He also appreciated the strict control exercised by the formation to abide by the ceasefire understanding."
The Army said that amid the ongoing nationwide celebrations of Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a 72-feet high Tricolour was hoisted by the people of Keran along the LoC, in presence of Lt. Gen. Upendra Dwivedi and Lt. Gen. A.D.S. Aujla.
"The defining moment was possible due to the persistent efforts of Flag Foundation of India, passion of the local population and support of the Indian Army," an official said.
