Northern flame of truth reaches in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, September 1, 2012: On August 31. Northern flame of truth has reached in Chandigarh which is handed over to president of RTYC Chandigarh and TFM president by central Flame of truth relay chairman Pema Jungney.

All the members of RTYC Chandigarh and guest welcome the Flame of Truth relay.  At 11:00am, Official function was held in Kala Bhawan hall. Balramji Das Tondon, was consented to be the chief guest and other guest includes dignitaries: namely, Dr. Arvind Thakur, Rajenduren Chettiyar, Rajinder Sharma.

The spokes persons were Pema Jungney, M.P. and former Speaker, Tibetan Parliament in Exile and Dr.Arvind Thakur, International Human Rights Councilor and Solicitor International Member-Amnesty International London Member-International Bar Association (U.K) Member: Anti Corruption Committee of IBA.

During the gathering Pema Jungney has made the opening speech. He spoke on aims and objectives of the “Flame of Truth Relay” and appealed the World citizens to support the plight of Tibet. Other guests assured us of total support for the genuine cause of Tibet.

At the end of the function Chief Guest raised the “Flame of Truth” and signed UN petition to show full support for Tibetan cause and signing of UN petition was continued by rest of the participants. Function was accompanied by gathering of interest from media and took full note of the function and so many personal interviews.

After finishing the actual function the Tibetan University Students were divided into three groups for the signature campaign.

The main demands of the entire activities included the United Nations must discuss the issue of Tibet based on the resolutions that it has passed in 1959, 1961 and 1965, and continuously make efforts to fulfill the substance of these resolutions, independent international fact-finding delegations must immediately be sent to investigate the ongoing crisis in Tibet and that the United Nations must take special responsibility to ensure that the basic aspirations of the Tibetans inside Tibet are fulfilled.
