Dharamsala, December 31, 2023: Residents of Tika Haar in Daulatpur village near Ranital expressed their dissent today by submitting a memorandum to the SDM of Kangra, asserting their decision not to part with the remaining land for the ongoing construction of the four-lane project on the National Highway from Mataur in Kangra to Shimla via Hamirpur.
The villagers, resolute in their stance, have categorically stated that having already contributed their land for the four-lane construction, they will not yield any additional land under any circumstances. The land they have retained is designated for the construction of their own residences.
The villagers lamented that the Revenue Department, without consultation or prior notice, demarcated their land. The delegation, led by Block Congress President Nageshwar Mankotia, conveyed that approximately 40 families are adversely affected by this unilateral action, raising concerns that such actions might compel them to take to the streets. In response, SDM Somil Gautam assured the villagers that he would gather information from the Revenue Department to address the matter appropriately.
