National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with Centre for Social Work Celebrated International Youth Day on Monday at Centre for Social Work Panjab University by organizing Seminar on the topic “Hygiene Practices to Keep Infection Away”.
Chandigarh, August 12, 2024: National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with Centre for Social Work Celebrated International Youth Day on Monday at Centre for Social Work Panjab University by organizing Seminar on the topic “Hygiene Practices to Keep Infection Away”.
The key Speaker was Dr. Sonia B Bhardwaj, Senior Assistant Professor, Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital. The seminar aimed to raise awareness among students about effective hygiene practices to prevent infections. This initiative was part of the International Youth Day celebrations, focusing on promoting health and well-being among youth.The seminar was attended by Students from the Masters of Social Work (MSW) &University Institute of Fashion Technology (UIFT), research scholars and faculty members.
Dr. Anu H Gupta (Program Officer NSS) emphasized the significance of health for the youth, asserting that if they are in good health and free from infections, they can not only contribute to personal progress but also to national development.
In his address, Dr. Gaurav Gaur (Assistant Professor, Centre for Social Work) encouraged students to be proactive in their interactions with communities and to make them aware of critical issues such as health and hygiene.
Dr. Praveen Goyal (Program Coordinator, NSS) said that NSS does such programs to channelize youth in doing work for society.
Dr. Sonia B Bhardwaj (Senior Assistant Professor, Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital) a key note speaker of the seminar, delivered an insightful presentation on hygiene practices. Her session highlighted the importance of hygiene in maintaining health and preventing infections. She explained basic hygiene practices: like Hand-washing, Importance of Oral Health and how to maintain oral hygiene with demonstration.
Prof Monica Munjial Singh, Chairperson Centre for Social Work concluded the session stating that youth are the future of the Nation and how youth working with communities can help develop healthy health practices among people across the country.
This seminar was very informative and covered the topic of hygiene in an interesting manner using demonstrations which led to increased awareness and motivation among the participants to adopt healthy health & hygiene practices.
The collaboration between NSS and the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, for International Youth Day was a success. The seminar provided valuable information on maintaining hygiene and preventing infections, contributing to the overall health education of the participating students.
