New Delhi, April 4, 2019: Promoting womanhood, ODHNI, one of the largest ethnic wear brands in India, recently organized a cultural runway show in association with a reputed women’s social group called Muskaan Club at its showroom in Vikas Marg. The show was a joint initiative between the two organizations committed to women empowerment with a purpose to stop objectifying women and question the beauty standards set before Indian women to follow. More than a hundred women from all walks of life gathered at the show and celebrated their unique identity and embraced their true Indian beauty in stunning lehengas and designer sarees while walking on the ramp. Graced by the presence of Directors of ODHNI, Puneet Jain and Yatin Jain and Mrs. Alka Gupta, chairperson of Muskaan Club, the event also witnessed their talents and let all heard their individual stories of life. Also, many women stole the show with their amazing dance performances on folk and Bollywood songs.

Stereotyping is not new to the Indian society where women are supposed to be lean and fair. From workplaces to households, women have to struggle to attain freedom in a male-dominated society. The most common challenge for modern women is to sideline the societal pressures and accept their complexion, body, and appearance the way it is. Knowing the fact that fashion is the strongest means through which a woman can do this, ODHNI themed the show on Indian ethnic wear. It was supported by Muskaan Club which called entrepreneurs, homemakers, and all women to claim their accomplishments and contributions they’ve made to the country and society as a whole.

On the occasion, Puneet Yatin Jain, Director, ODHNI said, “This show aimed to boost low self-esteem among women due to impertinent beauty standards. Women are the strongest and essential pillars of society, and we must let them discover and be confident of who they truly are. Today, women in every field have lightened up the name of the family and brought accolades to the nation with their talents. Bogging them down with stereotypes would be unjust. Therefore, it was an initiative by ODHNI to encourage women to love themselves, regardless of giving any heed to what others say. We would look forward to hosting more of such events in the future.”

After the show, women were taken for a guided tour of the store and their compliments were all in superlatives.

“We are thankful to ODHNI’s team for providing us the platform where women supported women, and together, they pledged to break free from the beauty norms that have been causing anxiety and demotivation among women for so long. It was a pleasure for all of us to celebrate womanhood with those who actually care.” said, Mrs. Alka Yadav, Chairperson of Muskaan Club.
