Officers under West Circle in Central Zone, Ludhiana PSPCL conducted massive raid in City West Division Area

Ludhiana: To curb the menace of power thefts in the city, the officers under West Circle in Central Zone, Ludhiana Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) conducted a massive raid in City West Division Area comprising Talwandi Kalan, Ashok Nagar, Bharti Colony, Jalandhar Bypass, Jamalpur Lilly Kasabad, Kutbewal etc Ludhiana, on Wednesday.
The raid was conducted under the directions of A. Venu Prasad, IAS, CMD, PSPCL and DPS Grewal, Director Distribution.
Chief engineer Er VPS Saini told that as many as 21 teams (Distribution XENs SDOs and JEs) conducted the early morning raid. The teams checked a total of 736 connections and fined consumers a total of Rs.16 lakh for power theft and misuse of meters. Of total connections checked, 66 cases of power theft and 4 for UUE cases were detected.
Er Sanjeev Prabhakar Dy CE West Circle Ludhiana informed that apart from checking ‘Kundi Connections’, the teams also checked the meters, to ensure that meters are working properly and there is no tampering with the meters. He added 8 meters were found dead.
Er VPS Saini Chief engineer Central zone Ludhiana said that the PSPCL will continue to conduct the systemic raids in the near future to curb the menace of power thefts in the city and to ensure that residents are free from glitches of such unscrupulous practices. He appealed that consumers have to help PSPCL in controlling the menace of power theft.
