On completion of 6 years as VC, Prof. Rajbir Singh commits to make MDU a renowned center of academic excellence.

Rohtak, January 6, 2024: Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak has made remarkable progress in the last six years under the dynamic leadership and able guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh. There is a plan for the overall development of the varsity under a futuristic road map.
 
Notably, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh took additional charge as Acting Vice Chancellor of MDU, Rohtak on 7 January 2019. On 21 February 2020, he became the regular Vice Chancellor of the varsity.
 
Under the provisions of MDU Act 1975, Governor of Haryana and Chancellor of MDU, Bandaru Dattatreya extended the tenure of VC Prof. Rajbir Singh for a period of 3 years from 21 February 2023.
 
During the tenure of Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh, MDU has received A+ grading from NAAC in the year 2019. In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) operated by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, from the year 2019 to 2023, it has been ranked in the list of top 100 universities of the country continuously. At the same time, MDU remained at the first position among the universities of Haryana state.
 
The Department of Pharmacology of MDU was included in the list of top 50 pharmacology institutes of the nation. It is worth noting that in the NIRF Ranking 2024, MDU got 35th rank in the category of state universities in the whole of India.
 
The Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies was established to promote interdisciplinary higher studies and research in the university. Faculty Development Center (FDC) was started to equip the faculty members with high level latest knowledge and skills. Establishment of the Digital Learning Center was an important initiative to strengthen the online education system. The Digital Learning Centre played an important role in the spread of online education, especially during the Corona period. Apart from this, the establishment of the Center for Language Skills and Soft Skills has been an important step to equip the students with communication and personality skills.
 
An ambitious plan of a training program related to communication skills is being run with the participation of the British Council. Center for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship has been established to orient the students towards self-employment and innovation. Under the aegis of this center, students are being motivated for innovative startups.
 
As an important link of social outreach, Center for Disability Studies has been established. A MoU has also been signed with Haryana Welfare Society for Speech and Hearing Impaired recently. Two diploma courses related to Indian Sign Language have also been started.
Promoting the concept of inclusive self-employment, Dafteria Cafe was established in the university campus in the month of August. Under the aegis of the Centre for Distance and Online Education, several undergraduate and postgraduate online courses have been started as an important initiative.
 
The university has devised a research promotion policy for high-level, quality research. Along with this, a new IPR policy and consultancy policy have also been created. A world-class Next Gen Genome Sequencing Laboratory has been established in the varsity. Aryabhatta Central Instrumentation Laboratory has also been made functional during the tenure of VC Prof. Rajbir Singh.
 
MDU has signed MoUs with Indian Air Force, Avantha Centre for Industrial Research and Development, Forensic Science Laboratory New Delhi, MSME Technology Centre, Everest Blower System, British Council, UNESCO, Institute of Hotel Management Pusa etc. for research collaboration, skill training and higher studies joint program. A MoU was also signed with INFLIBNET to promote digital learning centers. MDU also performed excellently in sports activities and earned its place among the best sports universities of the nation.
 

Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajbir Singh said that in the coming times, he is committed to strengthening the university infrastructure, capacity building of faculty members and students, expanding social outreach and taking higher studies and research to qualitative heights. On the completion of six years of his tenure as MDU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajbir Singh expressed his commitment to make MDU a renowned center of academic excellence and gain global fame.
