Blankets and footwear distributed from funds received from chief minister office
Ludhiana: As a humanitarian gesture and on the directions of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma distributed blankets and footwear to the needy at the MC night shelter near Clock Tower, here late last evening. He was also accompanied by ADC (General) Mr Amarjit Bains, MC Additional Commissioner Mr Rishi Pal Singh, besides several others.
Deputy Commissioner Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma informed that due to ongoing cold wave, the Chief Minister office had sent funds to all Deputy Commissioners of the state, after which blankets and footwear were arranged. He said that the district administration would cover all homeless persons to provide them with a warm refuge so that they don’t face any hardship during the ongoing winter season.
He said the district administration would always support and provide help to the homeless and the needy. He asked Municipal Corporation officials to make sure that no beggar or homeless person spends night without roof over their head or blankets during this winter season.
Reiterating his commitment to serve underprivileged sections, Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma called upon people to join hands with district administration in its endeavour by donating maximum to Red Cross society so that their help could reach the needy people.
