On Kaun Banega Crorepati 16, Amitabh Bachchan shares hilarious 'Security Snub' moment, compares it with SRK’s similar experience

The special New Year’s Eve episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16 on Sony Entertainment Television is sure to be an unforgettable celebration as iconic singers Gurdas Maan and Shankar Mahadevan grace the stage with their incredible talent and infectious energy. Their mesmerizing performances will bring the magic of music to life, setting the perfect tone to usher in 2025. Beyond their soulful renditions, the duo will delight the audience with light-hearted anecdotes and memories of their illustrious careers, making the evening a perfect blend of inspiration, entertainment, and joy.

The episode, which will air this Tuesday, will see the legendary host, Amitabh Bachchan, share an amusing yet humbling incident from his life, recalling a time when he was denied entry by security despite being the star performer of the event. Mr. Bachchan laughed at the irony and shared, "I am talking about the 80s when we first started doing stage shows. My journey began with a show in America, and it was such a hit that it created a lot of excitement among the audience. Later, when I was about to perform in Chicago, the organizers suggested that since the show had become so popular, I should not enter from the stage. Instead, they proposed that I walk through the audience, and they would set up a gate for me to enter from there. So, as I made my way to the gate for the performance, the police stopped us. They told me, 'You cannot go in.' I said, 'I’m the performer, I need to go in".

Bachchan further said, "Shah Rukh Khan also once shared a similar experience with me. During a show in Delhi, when his popularity was at its peak, the program was being held specifically for him. He was late to arrive, and as he tried to enter, the police stopped him. He told them, 'I’m Shah Rukh Khan!' The officer replied, 'You might be Shah Rukh Khan, but you can’t go inside.' This kind of thing happens quite often."

Amitabh Bachchan reminisced about special memories, recalling Gurdas Maan’s soulful performance at his daughter Shweta’s wedding, accompanied by a heartfelt note from the iconic singer that he cherishes to this day. Shankar Mahadevan will also share his own connection with the Bachchan family, as he speaks about the honor of performing at Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding.

Amitabh Bachchan expresses his fascination for Punjabi songs, saying, "I was talking to my daughter Shweta because all the kids in our family listen to Punjabi folk songs; they are very popular in our household. I asked her how these songs become so popular and where the singers come from. There are so many new singers emerging who sing beautifully. She told me something that I would like you to confirm—whether it's true or not. She said that at a very young age, children go to the Gurudwara, listen to the Bani, and learn from it. It is from there that they get their music education. Is this true?"

Gurdas Maan replies, "Yes, absolutely, Sir, that is correct." He continues, "I’m feeling a lot of love and respect today. I remember, I was in Delhi for Shweta's wedding, and our group performed there. Shenshah (referring to Mr Bachchan) was standing in front of us. After I performed, he gave me a 500-rupee note as a blessing. I still keep that note as a treasure with me."

Shankar chimes in, "You sang at Shweta ji's wedding, and I sang at Abhishek ji's wedding."

The evening will further take a delightful turn when Bachchan speaks of an unforgettable New Year’s house party, where legends like Pandit Birju Maharaj and Zakir Hussain created magic with their artistry, turning the celebration into an all-night musical extravaganza that lasted until 5 AM.
