Jalandhar, March 27, 2014: ICSSR Sponsored One Day National Seminar on the topic ‘Revitalization of Industrial Development in Punjab- An Aspiration’ was organised by Department of Economics, PCM S.D College for Women, Jalandhar on Thursday.

The journal ‘Economic Surge-2014’ comprising 88 papers of distinguished scholars and professors was also released on this occasion. Principal Dr Kiran Arora welcomed all the eminent dignitaries and delegates. Prof Sangita Sharma, Head Department of Economics and Co-ordinator of the seminar briefed the audience about the objective of the seminar i.e. the policy initiative for fuelling the process of industrialisation and the suggestive strategies for revitalisation of industry in Punjab.

Dr. R.S. Bawa, Vice Chancellor Chandigarh University, Gharaun, Mohali was the chief Guest. In this presidential address, he focused on creating a balance between agriculture rejuvenation and industrial revitalisation through agrobased and food processing industries, cluster approach, research and development and special economic zones.

Prof. Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma of University Business School of Panjab University, Chandigarh delivered the key note address and highlighted the main theme of the seminar. The crux of his lecture was that Punjab Government should ensure the sustained setup of congenial atmosphere for revitalization of industrial growth.

Dr Sharanjit Singh Dhillion, Head, Punjab School of Economics, GNDU, Amritsar was the chairperson of Technical Session. Dr. R.P. Bhardwaj, Director Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar acted as the Resource Person. Members of Management Pritam Chand Budhia, C.M. Markanda and Vinod Dada were also present to grace the occasion.
