One of the key accused in 77 kg drug haul last year, nabbed by CIA
In a major breakthrough, the sleuths belonging to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) nabbed a key accused who was wanted in the 77 kg heroin recovery on August 6 last year.
Ferozepur, August 20, 2024: In a major breakthrough, the sleuths belonging to Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) nabbed a key accused who was wanted in the 77 kg heroin recovery on August 6 last year.
Saumya Mishra, SSP said that the accused identified as Sikandar Singh, a resident of Deep Singh Wala village in Faridkot district was nabbed from Behak Pachharian village in Zira sub-division.
“The CIA team also recovered two 9mm pistols, four magazines, 100 cartridges, a pistol (Zigana), two magazines and 15 cartridges from his possession. The accused had been booked under sections 21 (C) and 29 of NDPS Act and section 25 of the Arms Act”, said SSP.
Notably in August last year, the CIA sleuths had recovered had arrested four drug smugglers and had recovered 77 kg heroin along with three pistols in two separate operations carried out within 24 hours.
In other incident, the sleuths CIA sleuths nabbed two persons and recovered one kg heroin, one pistol and live round along with drug money of Rs. 12.90 lakh.
While divulging details, SSP Saumya Mishra said that following the inputs, a trap was laid by the CIA sleuths near the cantonment grain market area. “The accused identified as Vishal alias Shelly and his brother Roshan, both residents of Basti Machhian in Zira, had reportedly taken a house on rent for their illegal activities near Nawa Purba area. The police had received inputs that the accused were coming in an SUV following which the trap was laid and the accused were nabbed. During the checking, the police recovered one kg heroin, one country made pistol and seven live rounds besides drug money of Rs. 12.90 lakh”, said Mishra.
The accused had been booked under sections 21, 61, 85 of NDPS Act and section 25 of Arms Act at Cantt police station (FIR No. 85 Dated 18.08.2024).
