One student one tree project launched at DAVIET

Jalandhar, August 9, 2019: One student One Tree Project, which has been launched nationwide by HRD Minister Dr.Ramesh Pokhria was initiated with great zeal and enthusiasm here at DAVIET.

The basic aim of the drive is to create green and healthy environment so that environmental threats affecting the society should be curtailed. In the plantation drive 1100 trees were planted by students.

Principal Dr Manoj Kumar joined the first year students in the tree plantation drive and motivated them to not only plant trees but also to take care of them. He stated that the idea of planting trees is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a clean and green India. He also motivated the students to think about environmental hazards and the role of trees in the life of human beings. He educated the students that we should be sensitive about the flora around us as it has been scientifically proved that trees can feel and communicate as well. He appreciated the initiative taken by the NSS wing of the Institution and congratulated Dr PS Mann the NSS officer for implementing al projects successfully.

Dr. PS Mann, the NSS coordinator stated that we should be aware of the fact that merciless exploitation of nature is not sustainable and we have already started paying the price for it. He encouraged the students to be responsible citizens of the nation and make concerted efforts not to pollute the atmosphere. He highlighted that in the institution a log boo of trees is maintained in which the entire information about the tree is kept. He encouraged the students to get their names registered in the log book so that their contribution for the cause of environmental conservation is acknowledged.

M Singh Chairman Dishadeep, Dr. Sudhir Sharama, Dean Academics, Dr Jagjit Malhotra, Dean (RIC), Dr. Neeru Malhotra, Head Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Head Department of Information Technology, Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Head Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Gaurav Dhuria, Head Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr Vinay Chopra, Deputy Dean Academics, Dr. M. K. Kaushik, Dr Sunil Sachdewa and Sh. Vinay Kumar, Estate Officer also joined the tree plantation drive.
