ONLINE COMPETITIONS AND SENSITISATION ACTIVITIES ON COVID-19 BY GHSC-10
THE THEME WAS CHOSEN TO HIGHLIGHT THE SERIOUSNESS OF THE PANDEMIC
Chandigarh: With an endeavour to sensitize the students about the concerns related to COVID-19 and generate awareness about the precautionary measures that must be adopted, Government Home Science college, Sec 10, Chandigarh, organized a competition on digital collage making on the theme COVID-19.
The theme was chosen to highlight the seriousness of the pandemic and to make masses aware of the globally growing cases that need urgent attention. The students actively participated in the competition and beautifully designed colourful collages depicting the origin of pandemic, how it could be prevented and what should be done to stay positive and optimistic. during this difficult time. All participants effectively used digital platform as most of them lacked resources like paints, brushes and canvases during lockdown.
In addition to this, under the dynamic leadership of the Principal Dr. Sudha Katyal, the faculty and students of the college developed and shared YouTube videos related to relevant themes like how to stay fit and mentally healthy during pandemic, how to clean and sanitize your mask, ensuring food safety during covid-19, how to disinfect your food supply during covid-19, yoga and aerobics and how to make organic hand sanitizer to name a few.
Consistent efforts were made by the students and faculty of the college to serve the masses in whatever humble way they can do during the pandemic. In this regard, NCC cadets and students of the college stitched approximately 1000 masks for distribution to the masses.
Principal of the college, Prof. Sudha Katyal, encouraged the faculty and students for making efforts towards keeping the society aware of the Coronavirus pandemic even during lockdown. She emphasized on proactive role of home scientists as counsellors, dietitians and fashion designers to help people stay fit, healthy and positive during this difficult time.
