Online programme on History of Lyallpur Khalsa College
The President of Sahitya Sabha Nakodar Prof. Jasveer Singh conducted the program
Jalandhar: An online event titled 'Itihasic Pairran' was organized by Sahit Sabha at Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar. This progrsmme aiming at providing information about the history of the institution was presided over by the college Principal Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra. Dr. Gopal Singh Butter, Head of Punjabi Department of the college, acted as the keynote speaker. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Samra highlighted the history and uniqueness of the College He informed that the college was established as school in 1908 in Lyallpur district of Pakistan with its foundation laid by Sant Atar Singh Ji Mastuana, and also that Master Tara Singh served as its first headmaster without accepting any salary. He said that the institution had secularism ingrained in its very basis and being. Dr. Gopal Singh Butter gave a detailed account of development of the institution from a school to a college in 1926 and of its re-establishment in Jalandhar in 1948. He also gave an account of the history of the college Punjabi department. Dr.Surinderpal Mand shared some historical facts and images about the college.
