Online training on ‘Post-Harvest Management of Agricultural Produce during Pandemic’ begins at ICAR-CIPHET
Ludhiana, October20, 2021: A 3-day training programme on ‘Post-Harvest Management of Agricultural Produce during Pandemic’ started today (20 October 2021) through online mode at ICAR-CIPHET, Ludhiana. The training is sponsored by MANAGE, Hyderabad to inculcate the awareness regarding handling, storage and processing of agricultural produce during pandemic and distress situation caused by natural calamities.
Dr. D. N. Yadav, Head, Transfer of Technology Division briefed that recent COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the need of awareness among the farmers and other stakeholders regarding post-harvest management techniques during distress times. ‘The training programmes are forming the linkage between research organisations and farmers which will benefit the stakeholders to tackle the problems in post-harvest management of agricultural commodities during pandemic situations’ said Dr. B. Venkata Rao, Asst. Director of MANAGE, Hyderabad. Dr. Nachiket Kotwaliwale, Director ICAR-CIPHET and Course Director of the Programme said that the training has been designed to address the issues such as handling, storage & cold chain management, role of artificial intelligence, protected cultivation, and nutritional aspects of different agricultural produce during distress conditions of pandemic and natural disasters.
About 77 participants (Scientists, University teachers, State government officers, and students) have registered for the training programme. Dr. Ranjeet Singh, Principal Scientist and Dr. Sandeep Dawange, Scientist, TOT Division are coordinating the online training programme.
