Only advance and scientific planning can save the city from flood disaster – CPI
Administration’s failure in this regard a cause of concern
Ludhiana, July 13, 2023: A delegation of Communist Party of India (CPI) Ludhiana visited the area of Haibowal and Shivpuri where hazardous water from the Buddha Nalla has over flown into the streets, putting the residents at high risk of diseases like Diarrhoea, skin diseases and respiratory diseases. It is therefore urgent that supply of clean drinking water is ensured to the people living in all the affected areas in the city. Chlorine tablets should be supplied in the area.
Those who visited include Dr Arun Mitra – Assistant Secretary CPI District Ludhiana, M S Bhatia – City Secretary CPI, Avtar Chhibber, Vinod Kumar, Ramadhar, Randhir Singh.
The CPI leaders said that after the floods in Himachal it was well known that the water will flow to the plains and in that process the Buddha Nalla will also be flooded. But no remedial measures were taken in advance. There have been many schemes and much hype has been created in the recent past about cleaning the Buddha Nalla but all in vain. The myth of Ludhiana as a smart city has been exposed very soon. It is time the administration takes the issues seriously and does not forget such events in future.
