Operation clean- special squads of senior officers from civil and police conduct inspections to check illegal mining
SDMs, ADCPs/SPs, BDPOs, Drainage Officials and others asked to keep a check on mining round the clock
Ludhiana, November 1, 2021: The special squads comprising senior officers from civil and police administration constituted on the orders of Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi conducted surprise checking of all mining sites and other areas to check the menace of illegal mining under operation clean falling in the district.
Divulging further details, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that these squads would keep constant vigil on the mining sites to ensure the rate of sand at the mining point pit must not be more than the control rate which is Rs 9 per cubic feet and no illegal mining takes place in the district.
He said that the officers including the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), ADCPs/SPs, Drainage officials, and others have been formed to conduct surprise checking round the clock for effective monitoring over the illegal mining.
Sharma said that as per the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi district administration was committed to keep a stern vigil over the illegal mining. He said that no laxity in this regard would be tolerated at any cost.
He also added that the Panchayats must not be forced to pay any charges for levelling of sand and gravel to be used in village development works.
Deputy Commissioner said that the officers’ in-charges of the squad would be held accountable if illegal mining takes place in their respective area. He said that the primary aim of all these steps was to ensure that illegal mining in the district was checked effectively.
