OPINION: Will it be possible to enjoy the trust of people by Third Front

With the withdrawal of support by DMK, BS and BSP from UPA-led Congress government when only eight-nine months are left for the Parliament elections, the question has arisen as to whether it would be possible to enjoy the trust of people in the event of formation of Third Front?

Different political party heads have different views so far as the formation of Third Front is concerned. JD(S) chief, H D Deve Gowda supported the idea of a Third Front, saying it is the "future" as people were fed up of corruption under Congress.  CPI also bats for Third Font scope in the ensuing elections. While Murli Manohar Joshi says, Third Front has no future.   Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP national spokesperson is also talking about a third front but it has no relevance for the present any promise for the future.  Taking the side of the people, Prasad has made it clear that because of lack of brilliance performance of Dr. Manmohan Singh and the massive scams, are not what the people of the country want to deserve that too for a third term.

The Third Front’s formation and break-up has become a thing of the past because the people have become habitual and are now not serious about this idea.  Now when the Mulayam Singh Yadav, by assuring the outside support to UPA, has said about the Third Front, the people have taken it in a casual way.  But the Congress and BJP has become furious and burst into flames.  Mulayam Singh Yadav is openly saying that there are no chances of majority to any political party in the coming ten years and in such circumstances, perhaps there is a dire need of Third Front.  Now Yadav, saviour of Congress,  is also perhaps looking for the way to separate from Congress.  It looks that almost all the parties – DMK, BS, BSP, NSP JDS. CPI-  in UPA are realising that UPA government could fall at any time and early elections are announced and have started making grounds for the same.   The Third Front has always been led by the opposition parties and as per the past experience, its alliance parties have the self-interest and it is one of the major reason that Third Front could never become a permanent and dependable party.  All those parties who had been saving the UPA government in the past, are now giving a challenge to the politics of Congress and thinking to establish the Third Front.

There is no denying the fact, the people have lost confidence in UPA government because of various scams but for its failure, only Congress party is not responsible as the people are also watching and reviewing  the work and conduct of other small parties.  The people are trying to understand as to which party is supporting the government and on what issues.  In case, any front is created against the UPA government then it has to be cleared as to what issue they are not agreeing with the existing government and as to what they have in their hands to give to the people?

In case, the Third Front is really coming up, the first thing it has to do is to create confidence among the people.   But the most interesting part is that Mulayam Singh Yadav Samajwadi Party Supremo,  is talking about the formation of a separate front other than Congress-BJP.

At the same time, on the one hand, Mulayam is saying there is no use of withdrawing the support when only eight-nine months are due for the elections and on the other hand blaming Congress who is used to take his support by threatening him.  Mulayam’s his own brother Ram Gopal Yadav is also praising the BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani.  Now the public has become so matured and wants to come out of the old political symbols and conducts and thus, there is a need to move ahead of the old political systems.
