Chandigarh: University Institute of Hotel and Tourism Management, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized a webinar today on “Opportunities for Youth in Hospitality and Tourism Industry in the Covid Era”. All the faculty members and students of UIHTM joined the webinar.
Mr. Mayur Sud, Managing Director, Great Himalayan Adventure Studio (GHAS) was the speaker of the webinar. Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, in his inaugural address congratulated the department for organizing the webinar related to youth. He said that youth are our future and these types of events for youth should be organized from time to time. He motivated the students to not panic from the COVID-19 situation. It is just a temporary phase. After the Covid-19, when everything will be normal, then again hospitality and tourism industry job opportunities will be generated. According to the current scenario, the youth who has updated knowledge and is energetic and fresh will have better employment opportunities thus should at the moment focus on enhancing their technical knowledge by joining such kind of webinars and online courses through virtual mode.
Mr. Mayur Sud said that we should use this time of Covid-19 in a positive way to enhance knowledge and skill through online mode. Now-a-days short term courses related to the computer and hotel and tourism industry are available through online mode many of which are free of cost. Dr. Anish Slath, Director (UIHTM) thanked Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Mayur Sud, faculty and students of UIHTM for making this event successful.
