Dharamshala, February 4, 2024: In a scathing critique of the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur lamented that despite completing one-fourth of its tenure, the administration has shown scant regard for the state's interests and the welfare of its people. Instead, the government appears preoccupied with appeasing its MLAs and ministers, neglecting the genuine grievances of the populace.
Thakur highlighted the burgeoning discontent among the public, who have taken to the streets to protest against the government's allegedly anti-people policies. Expressing grave concern, he questioned the government's priorities, emphasizing the urgent need for a shift towards developmental agendas and initiatives that cater to the common citizen.
For the first time in Himachal's political landscape, Thakur asserted, a government seems detached from the imperative of progress. Instead of propelling the state forward, the current administration is steering it in reverse, marred by record loan acquisitions and a conspicuous absence of substantial developmental endeavours.
In a press statement released from Dharamshala, Thakur underscored the government's lackluster performance over its 14-month tenure, accusing it of shirking responsibility and resorting to blame games instead of addressing pressing public concerns. He highlighted growing dissent within the Congress ranks, with MLAs, ministers, and party officials voicing skepticism over the government's efficacy and policies.
Thakur predicted a groundswell of support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing widespread public endorsement across the nation. He expressed confidence that the electorate's resounding mandate would propel Modi to a historic third term as Prime Minister, with the BJP emerging victorious in every booth across Himachal Pradesh.
