Optum awarded Hyderabad Marathon trophy for maximum employee participation in 2022
More than 800 Optum employees participated in the Hyderabad Marathon on August 27 and 28, 2022 to raise awareness around the importance of leading an active lifestyle.
Hyderabad, August 28, 2022: More than 800 Optum employees participated in the Hyderabad Marathon on August 27 and 28, 2022 to raise awareness around the importance of leading an active lifestyle. Optum, the health services business of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), was awarded the trophy for maximum employee participation.
Optum employees ran in the 42k full marathon, 21k half marathon, and 10k and 5k marathons. The Optum team included over 680 men and 120 women. More than 500 employees ran the 5k half marathon, and over 200 employees ran the 10K marathon.
Speaking about the enthusiastic participation of the runners, Pooja Bhagat, Vice President, Total Rewards, APAC and EMEA, Human Capital, Optum Global Solutions (India) Private Limited said, “The marathon is a great way for us to encourage all our employees to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle — mind, body, and soul — as they work to help others live their healthiest lives. Together, we can make better health a reality for more people.”
Bhagat noted that LiveWell, the holistic employee well-being program at Optum, helped over 70,000 employees and their family members live healthier lives in 2021.
To support employees and help runners prepare for the marathon, Optum sponsored a practice run on August 7, 2022.
“It was the perfect platform for participants to push their limits and prove the distance they can go,” said Bhagat.
