Noida: A two-day “Orientation Programme” began for the Research Scholars enrolled in various Doctoral Programmes with 49 Institutions of Amity Noida Campus and Lucknow Campus at Amity University, Sector-125, Noida.
 
Amity received thousands of applications for PhD Programmes for the current session, a trend being witnessed every year. After several rounds of screening involving written test and personal interviews, 241 bright scholars were selected from Noida Campus and 72 from Lucknow Campus in over various domains including Agriculture Science, Engineering & Technology, Architecture, Planning & Design, Bio Science & Biotechnology, Education, Health & Allied Sciences, Hospitality & Tourism, Management, Rehabilitation Sciences among many others. It is noteworthy that this time umber of female scholars joining the Ph.D programme is double the male scholars indicating towards a renewed interest of females in research.
 
The proceedings of the orientation programme began with the ceremonial “Havan” which was attended by hundreds of Scholars, Directors, Institutional Heads, Faculty members and Staff Members followed with the blessings from Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University.
 
In her welcome address, Dr Balvinder Shukla said that “It is a tradition in Amity to begin every new academic session by invoking the blessings of Almighty”. She mentioned that PhD is entirely an effort of the scholar; however, the supervision by the guides is also very important. Dr. Shukla remarked that PhD Scholars need to work very hard, especially in the first semester to build a solid foundation for their research ahead. She pointed out that research is an integral part of the vision of Amity to make India a Knowledge Superpower. She called upon the scholars to conduct highest quality of research and be totally committed to gain research outcome that will add value to the nation and society.
 
Also present on the occasion were Dr. Mohamed Nurullah, HoD – Accounting, Finance and Informatics at Kingston University London, Dr. W. Selvamurthy, President – Amity Science, Technology and Innovation Foundation and Chancellor – Amity University Chhattisgarh and Dr. B.C. Das, Chairman – University Research Council and Dean – Health & Allied Sciences.
