The Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA) at Panjab University organized an orientation programme to welcome the first year students of Batch 2024-26 for M.C.A. and M.Sc. Computer Science (Specialisation in Data Science).

Chandigarh August 21, 2024: The Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA) at Panjab University organized an orientation programme to welcome the first year students of Batch 2024-26 for M.C.A. and M.Sc. Computer Science (Specialisation in Data Science).

The event was meticulously planned to introduce the freshers to the department, its faculty, various facilities and activities. The event commenced with the Panjab University Anthem, instilling a sense of pride and belonging among the new students. The anthem set a solemn and respectful tone for the occasion. Dr Anuj Sharma, Chairperson, DCSA extended a warm welcome to the freshers, emphasizing on the importance of their journey ahead. The address highlighted the department's commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.

Following the welcome address, a detailed presentation about the department was given by Dr. Jasleen Kaur Bains, Faculty coordinator of the Orientation programme. The presentation included an overview of the department's history, the academic curriculum, faculty members, staff, various department facilities and activities. The students were made aware of the anti ragging policy followed by Panjab University and asked to intimate any kind of misconduct if so ever. All faculty members offered words of wisdom and encouragement to the students, urging them to make the most of their time in the department. The event concluded with an ice breaking session followed by department tour under guidance of Mrs Supreet Thapar, Faculty coordinator of the Orientation programme. These sessions helped students to interact with their peers, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie and know about the facilities at the department.
