Amritsar, March 16, 2023: During the G20 Summit here, Syngenta in partnership with IIT Ropar showcased deployment of drones for use in spraying crop protection solutions. The company also displayed how it was empowering farmers by helping them save money, labour cost and time to enhance their income eventually.
The company's technologies enable millions of farmers around the world to make better use of limited agricultural resources, said Susheel Kumar, MD & country head of company.
In more than 100 countries the company is working to transform how crops are grown. Through partnerships, collaboration and good growth plan we are committed to accelerating innovation for farmers and nature, striving for regenerative agriculture, helping people stay safe and healthy and partnering for impact, he maintained.
“One of our primary goals is to identify, develop and scale a series of innovative, breakthrough transformations that will enable farmers to increase their yields sustainably,” asserted Susheel.
Meanwhile Syngenta works closely for training agri entrepreneurs (AEs), who provide multiple agri and allied services to farmers. Under this program village youth are identified, trained and certified by National Institute of Agriculture Marketing and mentored to build businesses that increase smallholder farmer incomes, efficiency and reduce climate footprint through better and cheaper inputs, access to markets, credit, and insurance. 10,911 AEs have been trained so far across India. These youth also get training to become certified drone pilots.
